1997 Gibson BluesHawk

Secondhand classic red Gibson Blueshawk for sale

This completely unique looking (and sounding) guitar by Gibson is squarely aimed at blues guitarists and it really delivers the goods.

It is a very light and comfortable guitar to play, with a very fast playing fingerboard and slightly resembles a Les Paul in body outline.

Featuring two F-holes, which both enter into small sound chambers, the cosmetic parallel with a Telecaster Thinline is quite apparent, but this is an entirely different sounding guitar.

If blues guitar is your thing and you are looking for a guitar that will cover everything from Robert Johnson through to Buddy Guy (and all points in between) then look no further than the Blueshawk.

Gibson Blueshawk Description

Gibson Blueshawk – This completely unique looking (and sounding) guitar by Gibson is squarely aimed at blues guitarists and it really delivers the goods.

The Gibson Blueshawk is fitted with twin Blues 90 pickups and despite the fact that they look like traditional P90 ‘soapbars’, they are in fact a new design incorporating a dummy coil to cancel hum and also a Varitone circuit. The Varitone is a highly ingenious design and offers you a no-noise pickup configuration with the choice of up to 18 different tones!

We found that the Blueshawk offered an amazing array of sounds ranging from a bright Telecaster tone right through to almost 335 style warmth. Stratocaster tones were very easy to obtain too and there is plenty of sustain if you need it.

The guitar is very easy to play with a fast neck and a 25.5 inch scale length. Blues vibrato and string bending are a breeze on this guitar as you’d expect from an instrument with this name and it has all the signature blues tones you’d ever want.

This guitar is in very good condition and dates from 1997. If blues guitar is your thing and you are looking for a guitar that will cover everything from Robert Johnson through to Buddy Guy (and all points in between) then look no further than the Blueshawk.
