1969 Gibson ES-150 Description
This a rare and really great condition Gibson ES-150 DC. It has a full sized body with twin humbuckers and in terms of design, it is somewhere in between an ES-330 and an ES-175, making it a very distinctive design of guitar with quite incredible versatility. If you aren’t familiar with this model of Gibson then you are really in for a treat.
Sonically, this guitar impresses you immediately (even when unplugged) with a strong acoustic resonance and clear projection. Once plugged in, the addition of the unique master volume control really does prove useful for balancing the overall dynamics from the instrument (very helpful for quick adjustments in a live situation) and the dual humbuckers offer up all the gloriously rich tones you’d expect from a high-end Gibson guitar.
This is a very, very versatile guitar which would suit players who require a wide range of high quality tones and we found it equally at home with anything from funk rhythm guitar right through to warm Wes Montgomery style jazz tones. Blues players and classic rockers especially will also enjoy this guitar a lot when overdriven through a good tube amp or pedals.
The guitar is in very good condition throughout with only minor cosmetic wear and comes in the highly desirable cherry red finish rather than the more commonplace walnut. It feels wonderful to play with a ‘straight as an arrow’ neck, great action and easy access to upper registers via the twin cutaways. There is also a hard case supplied with the ES-150. What more could you ask for?
