Description

Here’s a classic vintage guitar, with plenty of character, for very little money.

Read the reviews, Starfire III owners love them and depend on them, because they’re well made, honest guitars. Arguably better made and better value than their Gibson counterparts, Guilds are the obvious vintage guitar bargains – they are significantly under-priced. Most Guilds were built as quality instruments and this is no exception. Luckily, most of the player wear is on the back of the body and neck, so it still looks great on stage.

The sounds is very clean and very versatile. Acoustically it’s resonant and light weight. Easy to play with a good comfortable neck. There’s plenty of rich jazz to be had on the neck pickup, plus some great blues tones – quite a range of blues too. The bridge pick-up has got some real bite to it – very inspiring. We could easily imagine rock, rockabilly, indie, and some soul shakin’ out of this end, or more predictably Freddie King or Eric Clapton a la Blues Breakers.

When Fender bought the Guild marquee, it was the Starfires they chose to reissue. Naturally, it’s these true vintage ones which are the more desirable. This one has a replacement bridge and tailpiece

Label states this guitar was made in Hoboken, USA – these New Jersey made guitars are considered to be the most desirable era for Guilds.

As played by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead and Dave Davies of the Kinks, amongst many other famous players.
