Description
The L-6 models were quite a revolution at Gibson. Pretty much everything on these guitars was new, except the lineage. It was supposed to be a more affordable L-5 but really it shares only the shape of the L-5 with its single cutaway.
What made players like Carlos Santana go for the L-6 in the 70s were the super humbucker pickups and 24 fret fingerboard. Other L-6 players include Mike Oldfield, and Paul Stanley of Kiss and Johnny Borrell of Razorlight.
This example in tobacco sunburst is in good condition. There’s a ding at the top back of the headstock and light player wear. It’s all original, even the case which has some fairly tasteful ‘case art’. It plays very well, is very loud and is really very cool.
Gibson L-6S features
13½“ solid maple body
24¾” scale length
24 fret rosewood fingerboard with dot markers
1-9/16” width at nut
Special L-6 Tune-A-Matic bridge
Strung-through body
