65 Supro Pocket Bass
Description
Irresistibly funky guitar-bodied and chambered bass having piezo and magnetic pickups with a pickup blend control!
This short scale monkey has a pretty amazing combination of sounds. It has a piezo pickup built into the brazilian rosewood bridge, and with the blend control (forward knob) all the way over to piezo, gives an interesting “edgy” sound. The piezo is, obviously, quite microphonic, so you can use this to get good effects depending on how you pick, pluck and damp.
Over at the other pickup, it does a passable impression of an upright bass with a nice muddy tone – think Gibson EB but at a lower output. But blend the two and you get some very nice combinations. “Muddy with a bit of edge” is actually great. Being a hollowed-out guitar body with a guitar fretboard makes this an ideal bass for a guitarist as the strings are at low tension and the scale is familiar. The piezo and sheer novelty factor make it great for bass players too.
Both neck and bridge are Brazilian rosewood, but being a non-adjustable bridge, the intonation is not too clever beyond about the 10th fret.
Condition-wise the bass is all original and clean, and comes in a non-original hard case.
