98 Martin OM-28-VR
Description
Nothing quite prepares you for the beauty of this guitar. The OM has the classic hourglass shape which makes holding a guitar almost as good as holding your best girl. Curvy, stunningly proportioned and just the right size. Orchestra Models and 000s are smaller and sexier than dreadnoughts!
OK, let’s move on to second base and play her. I mean run your fingers over the strings ever so gently and feel this delicate body come to life. It’s so incredibly responsive. You notice that your playing is unusually expressive. Hey, that’s ‘pianissimo’ you’re doing there and now your bringing up the volume just with your right hand by playing a little firmer and then firmer still into a great crescendo. This responsiveness is due to the scalloped bracing that complements the guitars top and proportions so admirably, but it just sounds and feels so great.
Whatever you play sounds good, be it fingerstyle, picking, strumming with your thumb or even a pick. That’s when you notice the neck shape. It’s deeper and more vee’d than usual. Martin call it a modified V and it feels good.
You don’t want to put her down, but it’s time to get ready for the show, so you lay her down into the deep crushed velvet of the high spec. Martin case, pick her up by the leather handle, throw your shoulders back and walk out of the room a good few inches taller than when you walked in.
